Okay, so I exaggerate. I HAVE used make-up before but I mean, ivory powder and black eyeliner and maybe false eyelashes now and again but I have NEVER used a full cover foundation or contouring etc. So for me, this year kind of crept up on me in terms of make-up purchases and a growing interest in painting my face.
I am all for abolishing gender stereotypes and I've definitely felt myself cringe when people congratulate me on 'FINALLY being girly' (whatever that means), HOWEVER, I am not above admitting that I seem to be falling into this stereotype the more I work in fashion.
I have a new found love of heels, of hair product, of make-up... but I just take the time every day to remind myself that painting my face, in no way, detracts from my core values of feminism, equality and acceptance of gender variations and pronouns.
What this long garble of self awareness was supposed to do was set you guys up for a purchase that I made this month of some make-up brushes from eBay.
As a beginner in make-up and also in using tools like these, I was eager to spend as little as possible so I could practice before I sprung for something more proffessional from MAC, Ecotools or RealTechniques.
This couldn't have been a more perfect set for me!
The set I bought cost me £7.39 but I sprung for £1.24 shipping but still! That is less than you would usually pay for just one brush so I was thankful for that. As with most eBay purchases, I wasn't holding my breath about these brushes but when they came I was blown away!
They were so soft, with zero prickling or scratching and I'm really pleased with the density of them. The set comes with 5 large brushes and 5 small brushes but I only really use 6 of the brushes because my routine isn't that complicated...yet.
The brushes in the 10pc set (you can get a 5pc set as well) are a flat top, gradient flat top, foundation, blush gradient blush, small flat top, small blending, small precision x2 and a gradient powder brush.
I have used them everyday since they arrived and they are flawless. They don't malt either which is perfect when using liquid product and I would say that this is the perfect set for anyone who is just starting out in make-up and wants something cheap that they can play around with to see what works for them.
I have filmed a video review for my channel so check it out for a more in depth response to the set and a better look at the density and for an idea of the feel.
LOL, my face in the thumbnail! Hehe!
Anyway, I hope this was useful for you guys and I look forward to filming and blogging more about my adventures with make-up!
